We all have heard about the upcoming 2020 Toyota Tundra. This new generation Tundra is expected to get a significant redesign in the upcoming release. But, despite the hype of its release, there’s no word on when or where it might be arriving on the market.
We assume that it will take time until we get official word related to the next-generation truck. Some spy shots have revealed that the vehicle will receive some changes, especially on the front and rear body, typically covered during the road test.
Regarding the spy shots and the fact that Tundra hasn’t received significant updates for years, it seems like the next generation will be unveiled soon. And we expect it to become a 2020 model year. And below is everything we’ve got so far associated with the upcoming Tundra.
2020 Toyota Tundra Redesign
Considering the number of spy shots rumored to be the next-generation Tundra, the front grille appears slightly different from the existing pickup. There seems like a bigger emblem in the center. And the most exciting part is the underneath, where Toyota doesn’t allow us to see the details.
Another rumor about the 2020 Toyota Tundra said that the truck would share the same platform with the new Tacoma and some foreign-market trucks. The new underpinnings would allow improved component sharing among the trucks. The truck is also claimed to support electrified powertrains, which seems to fit the recent spy shots.
In addition to the rumors above, we expect some other things from this next-generation Tundra. For example, the interior expects it to be redesigned, considering that the current model year overlooks this part. It must be great to get some updates on the dashboard, doors, and other features.
Panels installed underneath the truck keep us from seeing the powertrain, and the rear fringe does the same. According to the latest rumor, the hybrid version of this truck will use a twin-turbo 3.5L engine like the LS 500h. It’s supposed to offer 450 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque.
Specs & Towing Capacity
The New Tundra will still use the previous generation’s engine, which is a 5.7-liter V8 with 381 Horsepower 401 Lb-ft for Limited models. With a 6-speed automatic transmission and 4WD, of course. With a 5.7-Liter V8 engine, the New Tundra requires a fuel consumption of 13 mpg in the city, 18 mpg on the highway, and 15 mpg combined.
This year’s most expensive tundra series, the Platinum 4X2 CrewMax, carries a 5.7-Liter V8 engine. Simultaneously, the most affordable model is the SR5 4X2 Double cab, which carries a 4.6-Liter Aluminum i-FORCE V8 engine with a DOHC 32-Valve cylinder.
New Toyota Tundra SR5 can tow up to 6,800 lbs. Limited and Platinum Model with the 5.7-liter engine, you can tow up to 10,100 pounds.
