Although they have the largest market share, automakers are requirmustnnual updates and enhancements to their product ranges.
It’s been confirmed by numerous major automakers that they’ll revamp their SUV lineups for the 2024 model year.
Here is a group of sport utility vehicles that will undergo refreshing redesigns in 2024.
2024 Ford Expedition
Ford’s next Expedition has generated the most buzz. In 2024, the full-size SUV sold in the United States since 1997 will reportedly undergo a complete overhaul.
Ford is expected to release the fifth generation of the Expedition in 2024, making way for the fourth model now available at dealerships (which debuted in 2018).
Similar upgrades to the chassis and a fresh look for the exterior and interior were implemented in the latest generation of the Ford F-150, which will be mirrored in the next makeover of the Ford Expedition.
After Ford decided to skip adding an electrified powertrain to the updated SUV last year, a hybrid version of the next-gen Expedition will likely be added to the roster, much like the All-new F-150.
2024 Toyota 4Runner
The current Toyota 4Runner, despite its reputation as a capable off-road SUV, is in desperate need of an overhaul. Since it has been out for over a decade, the 4Runner needs a new platform to keep up with the competition.
Following in the footsteps of the 2022 Tundra and 2023 Sequoia, the upcoming 4runner will likely incorporate TNGA-F design with enhanced capability, efficiency, and convenience.
The 2024 Toyota 4Runner will retain its strong suit as an off-road-capable SUV but will also include an upgraded powertrain. A new, more efficient, trustworthy engine will likely be included in the next 4Runner.
The engine is rumored to be a 3.5-liter V6 with dual turbochargers. A total of 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque can be generated from this engine when combined with the electric motor.
Not only will the engine of the 2024 Toyota 4Runner be updated, but so will the interior, which will now have state-of-the-art safety and connection technology.
2024 Lincoln Navigator
Since the Lincoln Navigator is the high-end counterpart to the Ford Expedition, both will be redesigned for the 2024 model year.
The Navigator, the high-end variant with a higher price tag, naturally includes several improvements and upscale touches. There is a lot more than just the luxurious leather upholstery and cutting-edge technology found within.
Like the Ford Expedition, the Navigator will have a V8 engine. In 2024, I anticipate a Navigator hybrid and electric vehicle.
2024 Nissan Kicks
The current generation of the Kicks is roomy and has a vibrant, youthful vibe, making it a great choice for families.
The Kicks will get an updated look in 2024. To compete with the size of the retiring Rogue Sport, the Kicks is expected to get a more rugged appearance on the outside and grow in length and width.
With these upgrades, the Kicks should no longer be considered a subcompact and can be more accurately described as a sport utility vehicle.
Unfortunately, I don’t know much about the 2024 Kicks’ powertrain yet, but I know this little SUV will have an all-wheel drive.
Nissan will undoubtedly put effort into making the Nissan Kicks more eco-friendly; a hybrid or even electric powertrain configuration could be in the works.
2024 Hyundai Santa Fe
The current edition of the Hyundai Santa Fe has been on sale for six years, so it’s time for a refresh. The exterior of the next-generation Hyundai Santa Fe will undergo a dramatic redesign.
Hyundai has a reputation for radically altering its visual language. The new fifth-generation 2024 Santa Fe will have a more traditional ‘two-box’ appearance, ditching current Hyundai automobiles’ rounded edges and sharp curves.
The Santa Fe of 2024 will be larger and slightly boxier than its predecessor, making it more robust.
Regarding the drivetrain, I only know that front-wheel drive will continue to come standard and all-wheel drive will be costly.
2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport
In preparation for the 2024 model year, when a completely new electric vehicle platform will be implemented, Land Rover will refresh the Discovery Sport.
Two new platforms, the Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) and the Electric Modular Architecture (EMA), are part of Jaguar Land Rover’s preparation for the electric transition, as is the case with most automakers (EMA).
The 2024 Discovery Sport, based on the EMA platform, is not likely to undergo any major visual modifications.
The Disco Sport will take some styling ideas from the Evoque. The new design will have flush door handles, narrow LED headlights, and a sleeker, more streamlined front end, which may even feature a flat grille panel.
The flat floor of the EMA platform, an upgraded touchscreen, digital gauges, and the newest steering wheel design first seen on the Defender all contribute to a more comfortable and convenient interior.
2024 Lexus GX
The Lexus GX is a well-known luxury midsize SUV with rugged body-on-frame construction. In common with the Toyota 4Runner and the Land Cruiser Prado, the Lexus GX is based on a truck chassis.
I should expect a similar redesign for the 2024 Lexus GX, considering how Toyota is giving the 4Runner a major facelift for that year.
There has been no word on whether or not the 2024 Lexus GX will share the 4Runner’s engine, but if it does, I anticipate a more potent engine option for the New GX than the New 4Runner. It would be unexpected if Lexus released a GX with a hybrid or all-electric powertrain.
2024 Nissan Murano
At first, I was concerned that the Murano would be one of the Nissan models to be phased out. Actually, in 2024, Murano will undergo a revamp.
The Murano is a competent SUV, despite occasional setbacks to class leaders like the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Hyundai Tucson.
However, the present model hasn’t been updated significantly since 2014, and it shows. Although specifics on the 2024 Nissan Murano are currently unavailable, I can say with certainty that the interior and outside will be updated.
Since this is a complete overhaul, I anticipate an updated appearance inspired by the latest Nissan Ariya. Since the existing Murano is quite puffy, I can expect that the lighting fixtures and other decorative elements will be modernized to make the space feel more spacious.
2024 Nissan Armada
Existing 2017 Nissan Armada models received a mid-cycle refresh in 2021. This full-size SUV from Nissan is expected to get a complete redesign for the 2024 model year.
The engine is the other major area of transformation. Fuel and emission laws are becoming more stringent; thus, this is necessary.
Only 16 mpg on 2WD models and 15 mpg for 4WD are possible with the latest Nissan Armada’s Naturally-Aspirated 5.6-liter V8 engine. A new twin-turbo V6 engine, smaller and more fuel-efficient, is said to be coming to the Armada for the 2024 model year.
2024 Volkswagen Tiguan
The Volkswagen Tiguan’s current model has been on sale since 2016, at least two years old. Even while it’s still doing alright in Europe, it’s been overtaken by newer, more appealing products in the market.
Volkswagen is concerned about Tiguan’s dwindling sales and is actively developing a successor. Multiple images of the 2024 VW Tiguan being tested on public roads have surfaced.
Spy pictures show that the New Tiguan’s front end has undergone significant revisions, including thinner LED headlights and a larger grill.
Probably not all models of the new Tiguan will be electrified. Even though the ID lineup has expanded to include multiple electric SUVs, the Tiguan will still be sold with conventional gas- and diesel-powered engines. A plug-in hybrid drivetrain is also looking likely.
