15 Cars & SUVs With Stunning Ambient Lighting for 2026

A Rolls-Royce Starlight Headliner uses up to 1,340 hand-placed fiber optic lights. A Hyundai Ioniq 5 gives you a 64-color ambient lighting menu for a small fraction of that car’s price.

That gap says a lot. Ambient lighting used to be a six-figure feature. Now you can get it in cars that cost less than an average new car.

From my own experience, ambient lighting makes an interior feel more upscale. The cabin looks more expensive at night, even when the materials are ordinary.

It also helps in a practical way. When I drop my wallet or phone between the seat and the console at night, the soft glow sometimes lets me spot it without reaching for the dome light.

Below are 15 cars and SUVs for 2026. I start with the models most Americans actually buy and work up to the rare, high-end ones, roughly following recent US sales volume. For each one I note which trim you need, because that is where buyers usually get surprised.

1. Toyota Camry (2025+, 9th generation)

Toyota Camry Interior

The all-new hybrid-only Camry finally brought real ambient lighting to Toyota’s best-selling sedan. It runs along the dash and door panels.

It is subtle. That fits a car most people buy to drive for 200,000 miles.

  • Trim needed: Higher trims such as XLE and XSE
  • Approx. starting price: about $29,000 base, more for the trims with ambient lighting

2. Tesla Model 3 (2024+ “Highland” refresh)

Tesla Model 3 Interior

The refreshed Model 3 added an ambient light strip that wraps across the dash and into the doors. You pick the color from the touchscreen.

It is a single thin line rather than a full light show. In a cabin this minimal, though, it gives the interior some warmth it badly needed.

  • Trim needed: Standard on the refreshed car, according to Tesla’s spec page
  • Approx. starting price: $42,500

3. Hyundai Palisade (2026, 2nd generation)

Hyundai Palisade Brown Interior With Ambient Light

The redesigned 2026 Palisade moves noticeably upmarket. Hyundai’s press materials describe multi-color ambient lighting on the higher trims.

In a three-row SUV, the lighting helps rear passengers too. It is easier to find a dropped toy or charging cable in the second row.

  • Trim needed: Limited and Calligraphy
  • Approx. starting price: about $40,000 base

4. Lexus RX (2023+, 5th generation)

Lexus RX Interior Light

The current RX offers a 64-color ambient lighting system on certain trims. Lexus keeps the light indirect, so you see the glow rather than the LEDs.

That restraint is why it looks expensive. It never feels like a gaming PC.

  • Trim needed: Premium+ and up, check the window sticker
  • Approx. starting price: about $50,000

5. Hyundai Ioniq 5 (2022+)

Hyundai Ambient Light

Hyundai offers 64 ambient colors on the upper trims. The flat floor and open center console spread the light around the whole cabin, not just the dash.

This is the car I would point to if you want the “lounge” feel without paying luxury prices.

  • Trim needed: Limited
  • Approx. starting price: $43,000 base, Limited roughly $10,000 to $12,000 more

6. Cadillac Escalade (2025+ refresh)

Cadillac Escalade Interior With Huge Digital Screen

The refreshed Escalade pairs a 55-inch curved display with ambient lighting throughout the cabin. At night the dash glow and the screen together look like a private jet cockpit.

It is a lot. If you are buying an Escalade, though, “a lot” is probably the point.

  • Trim needed: Standard ambient lighting, with more features on Premium Luxury Platinum
  • Approx. starting price: about $90,000

7. Kia EV9 (2024+)

Kia EV9 Interior Blue Light Ambient

The EV9 has ambient lighting across the dash and doors, with a 64-color palette on upper trims. The horizontal dash design makes the light band look very clean.

It is one of the few three-row EVs that feels like a design-led product rather than an appliance.

  • Trim needed: Land and GT-Line
  • Approx. starting price: about $56,000

8. Genesis GV80 (2025+ refresh)

Genesis GV80 Interior Dashboard Pictures

The refreshed GV80 got a new wide-screen dash and updated ambient lighting. The lighting follows the “two lines” Genesis design theme through the cabin.

If I wanted luxury lighting without German repair bills down the road, this is where I would start looking.

  • Trim needed: Advanced and Prestige
  • Approx. starting price: about $58,000

9. Lincoln Navigator (2025+, 5th generation)

Lincoln Navigator Interior Pictures

The new Navigator has a 48-inch panoramic display across the dash and ambient lighting tied to Lincoln’s “Rejuvenate” wellness modes. Light, scent, and massage all work together.

It is a gimmick on paper. In a long highway drive at night, it is genuinely relaxing.

  • Trim needed: Reserve and Black Label
  • Approx. starting price: about $100,000

10. BMW X7 (2023+ LCI)

BMW X7 Interior Pictures

The X7’s party piece is the Sky Lounge panoramic roof. LEDs light up a pattern etched into the glass, so the whole roof glows like a starry graphic.

Add BMW’s illuminated interaction bar on the dash and the cabin looks completely different after dark.

  • Trim needed: Sky Lounge is an option package
  • Approx. starting price: about $85,000

11. Mercedes-Benz E-Class (2024+, W214)

Mercedes E-Class Interior Blue Ambient Light

This is where ambient lighting gets serious. The E-Class offers 64 colors, plus an optional active ambient lighting setup with a light band across the dash.

With the Burmester sound system, the lighting can pulse with the music. That is fun for about a week. After that, most owners I’ve read about set it to one calm color.

  • Trim needed: Basic ambient is standard. Active ambient comes in packages
  • Approx. starting price: about $63,000

12. Audi Q8 (2024+ refresh)

Audi Q8 Interior

Audi’s contour/ambient lighting package gives you around 30 colors. It traces the edges of the dash and door panels with thin, sharp lines.

It is more architectural than flashy. Audi uses light to outline the design rather than flood the cabin.

  • Trim needed: Often part of a Premium Plus or Prestige package
  • Approx. starting price: about $75,000

13. Mercedes-Benz S-Class (2021+, W223)

Mercedes S-Class With Ambient Light

The W223 S-Class uses roughly 250 LEDs in its active ambient lighting system. Mercedes ties the light to safety warnings too. For example, the door panel can flash red when the blind-spot system detects a car.

This is the best example of ambient lighting that does more than look pretty.

  • Trim needed: Standard on S 580, may vary on S 500
  • Approx. starting price: about $120,000

14. BMW 7 Series (2023+, G70)

BMW Serie 7 Interior With Ambient Lighting

The G70 7 Series has a crystal-textured Interaction Bar that runs across the dash and doors. It doubles as a control surface and a light display.

The optional rear Theatre Screen, combined with ambient lighting, turns the back seat into a small movie room.

  • Trim needed: Interaction Bar standard
  • Approx. starting price: about $97,000

15. Rolls-Royce Cullinan (2025+ Series II)

Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II

The Starlight Headliner is the original “wow” interior light, and nothing on this list beats it. Rolls-Royce can even arrange the fibers to match a specific constellation or night sky.

You will not cross-shop this with a Camry. It does show where all the other systems took their inspiration.

  • Trim needed: Starlight Headliner is optional
  • Approx. starting price: about $400,000

Quick Reference: Which Trim Gets You the Light?

This table is the part most buyers wish they had before visiting a dealer. Confirm every row on the window sticker, because packages change mid-year.

Is the Trim Jump Worth It Just for the Lighting?

Here is the math on the Ioniq 5 as an example.

  • Jumping from a mid trim to Limited costs roughly $5,000 to $7,000.
  • A decent aftermarket fiber optic ambient kit runs about $50 to $200.
  • Professional install adds roughly $150 to $400.

So if ambient lighting is the only reason you want the higher trim, it is a bad deal. A pricey upgrade for a glow, right?

The trim jump usually makes sense only if you also want the other things bundled with it, such as ventilated seats, the bigger sound system, a head-up display, or extra driver assists. Speaking of which, here are cars with a heads-up display if that is on your list too.

“More Colors = Better” Is a Myth

Brochures love to say “64 colors.” In real life, you will probably pick one or two and leave them alone.

What actually matters:

  • Indirect vs. visible LEDs. Hidden light that bounces off surfaces looks premium. Visible LED dots look cheap.
  • Coverage. A single dash strip is nice. Light in the doors, footwells, and console is what helps you find a dropped phone.
  • Dimming range. At night, bright ambient light can reflect in the windshield. Most owner’s manuals show how to lower the brightness or turn it off. Check this on your test drive.
  • Function. Systems like the S-Class that use light for warnings add real value beyond looks.

About Aftermarket Kits

A plug-in LED kit is the cheapest way to get the look in an older car. A few cautions:

  • Tapping into factory wiring can cause problems with warranty claims if something electrical fails. Plug-in USB kits avoid this.
  • Some states restrict red or blue lights that are visible from outside the vehicle. Keep interior lighting low and aimed inside the cabin.
  • Cheap adhesive strips can peel off in summer heat.

A factory system is cleaner, but a quality fiber optic kit gets you about 80% of the effect for very little money.

What I Would Do

If I were buying new for 2026 with ambient lighting high on my list, I would not chase the most colors. I would look for indirect lighting that reaches the footwells and console, because that is where it helps me find things at night.

On a budget, I would test drive the Camry XSE and the Ioniq 5 Limited. With more money to spend, the Genesis GV80 gives the most luxury feel per dollar.

And if I loved my current car, I would skip the trim jump entirely and spend $150 on a good fiber optic kit.

Does your car have ambient lighting, or did you add your own? Tell me what color you settled on in the comments.
